Helen Morgan MP has urged the Chancellor to exempt key health providers from the National Insurance hike introduced in the Budget.

Helen, the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Health and Care, has written to Rachel Reeves in a letter signed by dozens of Lib Dem MPs including leader Ed Davey.

The letter calls for the exemption of vital health and care services including GP surgeries, social care providers, hospices, NHS dentists, charitable providers of health and care, and pharmacies.

Vital local charities such as Hope House Hospice and Midlands Air Ambulance - as well as GP surgeries, care providers, dentists and pharmacists – are warning that hundreds of thousands of pounds is to be added to their yearly costs due to Labour’s Budget.

Helen has raised the issue in Parliament and will continue campaigning for the Government to see sense and support the health and care sector.
