Helen welcomes green light for RJAH expansion
North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan has welcomed the approval of expansion at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen.
The expansion will include four new operating theatres in a three-storey building near the current entrance of the premises.
Health bosses say that the construction of the four new operating theatres will lead to reduced waiting times for those accessing care in the area. Plans also include renovation of four existing theatres once the construction of the new buildings is completed.
Helen Morgan MP has been a prominent campaigner on health issues faced by Shropshire residents, and has warmly welcomed the plans which have now been given the green light by Shropshire Council.
Helen Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP for North Shropshire said,“Investment in health services is one of the top priorities for residents in Shropshire. It is great to see plans for expansion at RJAH given the green light, in a move that I hope will go some way to bringing down what are some of the country’s longest waiting lists for NHS treatment in the county.
“The facilities at RJAH are really special both for local residents and for veterans in need of specialist care, and I was very proud to raise the success of the Veterans Centre with the Defence Secretary earlier in the year.
“I am committed to keeping fighting for further investment and to solving issues the hospital faces such as filling vacancies. The added problem of poor bus services makes access for staff difficult even from nearby Oswestry.”
