Helen Morgan shares life story with local community group
MP Helen Morgan detailed how she moved from working at a family firm in North Shropshire to representing the area in Westminster during a talk with a local community group.
The Liberal Democrat MP addressed around 60 u3a members at Wem’s Methodist Church on Tuesday.
Helen spoke about her life and experience before her famous election win in 2021, the by-election campaign itself and how life has changed since becoming the MP for North Shropshire.
She then took part in a question and answer session with the audience.
U3a, aka the University of the Third Age, is a voluntary group aimed at encouraging retired or semi-retired people to share their knowledge, skills and interests.
Helen Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP for North Shropshire, said: “It was a pleasure to meet the u3a group and discuss my experiences before and after becoming an MP.
“I’ll be back in Parliament next week but it’s been great to start the new year by meeting such a lovely bunch in Wem and it’s invigorating to see so many people keen to learn in their retirement.
“Isolation is a big issue for lots of older people in rural areas in North Shropshire and groups like u3a can really help bring people together.”
