Helen Morgan MP has responded to the King’s Speech given in Parliament today, stressing the need for improved health services, especially in rural areas.

Helen Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP for North Shropshire said, “I welcome the laws proposed by this new Government to improve the state of bus services, tackle the crisis in our mental health services, and stop filthy sewage entering our rivers.

“We need to see more action to tackle the immense challenges facing our community after years of Conservative chaos, especially on health and care. Fixing local health services must be at the heart of the Government’s agenda.

“The Conservative Party completely neglected local health services in North Shropshire for years, leaving people waiting for hours for an ambulance or in A and E, or struggling to see a GP or NHS dentist at all.

“I will also be pressing for greater action on care – for those both providing and relying on good care.

“I was disappointed to note that rural communities did not get a single mention in this speech.

“I will be speaking the King’s Speech debate later this week to stress the importance of rural priorities to the Government, urging them to ensure new legislation works for those particular challenges areas like North Shropshire face - including access to health care, public transport, and mobile connectivity.”
