Helen praises 'essential' work of Crucial Crew
Helen Morgan joined emergency services and local school children to learn key life skills at Shrewsbury & Oswestry Crucial Crew.
The team at Crucial Crew teach essential life lessons to Shropshire's primary school children, working with Shropshire Council, West Mercia Police, Shropshire Fire Authority, and the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Every year, their event at Nesscliffe Training Centre is attended by around 1500 children from 40 to 60 primary schools across the Shrewsbury and Oswestry area.
Helen looked in on several demonstrations, including safety around railway tracks, health and wellbeing, and emergency planning – including for flooding, which is particularly relevant to many in North Shropshire.
The MP also dropped by a Shropshire Fire Authority talk about hazards and the importance of fire alarms.
Helen said, “The work done by the Crucial Crew is nothing short of essential in teaching North Shropshire children how to stay safe.
“It was really worthwhile to visit and see the work being done across organisations like Shropshire Fire Authority, West Mercia Police, and Shropshire Council to ensure children acquire real world life skills that might otherwise be learned the hard way.
“A huge thank you is in order to the hardworking team who put the camp together, and all the volunteers who keep it running.”
