North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan has voted against the Government’s plans to cut the Winter Fuel Payment.

Every single Liberal Democrat MP voted against the plans, however, the vote was still passed by the Labour Government.

Commenting after the vote, Helen Morgan MP said, “Thousands of pensioners in North Shropshire are deeply worried about how they will get by this winter because of the cut to the Winter Fuel Payment.

“I’ve spoken to lots of local people who aren’t eligible for Pension Credit but still relied on the fuel payment to help them through winter.

“Labour’s decision to cut payments to vulnerable pensioners is no way to bring about the change the country needs.

“I was proud to stand up for pensioners in Shropshire and oppose the government in this vote.”
