North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan has set out her key ambitions for 2025, saying that she is focused on delivering ‘real results’ for local people and standing up for rural communities.

Following a landmark year in 2024, which saw Helen re-elected with a 15,000-strong majority and appointed as the Liberal Democrats’ Health spokesperson, the North Shropshire MP is determined to keep pressing for progress on the issues that matter most to constituents.

The MP has also made clear that she wants to ‘take the fight to Labour’ with the negative impacts of the Budget now making themselves very clear in rural communities.

Helen says that people in rural Shropshire have been feeling ‘increasingly let down’ by a Labour Government that very few of them voted for.

Despite promises made by Labour before the election, British farmers are set to be hit hard by tax changes, many pensioners have suffered the loss of the Winter Fuel Allowance, local councils are struggling to deliver services, and there has been little progress on fixing the root of the problems in our health and care service.

Helen Morgan, MP for North Shropshire, said, “As we move into 2025, I’m more determined than ever to deliver for North Shropshire. This is a wonderful part of the world to represent, and I’m proud to fight for our rural communities, market towns, and hard-working families.

“The last Conservative Government took our area for granted, but people feel just as let down by Labour. They are hitting rural communities where it hurts on winter fuel and family farms, and aren’t delivering the urgent improvements we need to see in our health and care service – we’ve got to fix the foundations, not just throw money at the problem.

“I’m more than willing to take the fight to Labour in 2025. They need to be held to account over broken promises, and we need to see real results for local people.

“Regardless of which party is in charge, I’ll always stand up for our special part of Shropshire in Parliament and hold Ministers’ feet to the fire when it comes to the services people here deserve to see.”
