Helen Morgan encourages park home residents to apply for £150 payment
North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan is encouraging eligible park home residents to claim £150 towards their energy bills this winter.
Payments of £150 have are available to certain park home residents who do not have a direct relationship with an electricity supplier and instead pay the site owners for their electricity.
The Warm Home Discount scheme is being operated by Charis and is available to residents of park homes who claim certain benefits or have a household income of under £19,978.
Helen has worked to support rural residents with energy bills throughout her period as an MP, previously securing funding for off-grid homes for help with rising oil and gas bills.
This year’s Park Homes Warm Home Discount scheme is a multi-supplier initiative being funded by E.ON Next, Utilita, OVO and Rebel Energy. The scheme is Ofgem approved and regulated.
Residents can apply through an online form. People who want help with making an application can ask for the help of a friend or relative, or contact the Charis customer support team during normal working hours.
As funding is limited the scheme operates on a first come, first served basis until all monies are allocated. Payments are made directly into successful applicants’ bank accounts before the end of March 2025.
Helen Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP for North Shropshire, said, “The energy price cap has gone up this Autumn, and this has been made worse for many pensioners in North Shropshire by Labour’s cut to the Winter Fuel Payment.
“I am keen to encourage all constituents who live in park homes to apply for a Warm Home Discount, which is open to eligible residents who don’t pay their electricity supplier directly. It is first come, first served, to access this payment of £150 to help with energy costs.
“This support could be a crucial lifeline for many, so please apply as soon as possible if you think you match the criteria.”
