Helen urges community groups to apply for Freedom Fund
Helen Morgan MP has urged community groups in her constituency to apply for Freedom Fibre’s £25,000 Freedom Fund, recently launched to support good and green projects across North Shropshire.
The Freedom Fund will make grants of up to £500 to community non-profit groups delivering environmental projects, and is now in its third year. It has already supported schemes including community orchards, litter picking kits, small-scale solar power generation, and a number of projects aimed at improving nature and local habitats.
The MP has previously welcomed the Freedom Fibre investment in her constituency, with many residents set to see the benefit of faster, more reliable broadband connections as work begins on the full-fibre rollout.
Helen has been campaigning for improved broadband and mobile signal in North Shropshire and is looking forward seeing thousands more homes benefit from full-fibre connections over the coming months.
Applications to the Freedom Fund can be made online and must be made before 5pm on 28th June 2024.
Helen Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP for North Shropshire, said, “Thousands of people give up their time to volunteer for all sorts of projects across North Shropshire. The Freedom Fund is a great chance to get a boost if your project has an environmental angle.
“I would strongly encourage anyone in North Shropshire who is looking to support a good and green project to apply. There is plenty of time to do so, with the closing date on the 28th June 2024 – so don’t miss the deadline and get in touch now.
“Meanwhile I’m pleased that Freedom Fibre’s rollout of faster broadband is progressing across North Shropshire and soon many more homes will be able to benefit from much faster broadband.”
