Farming, NHS and Backing Britain – Helen Morgan gets stuck in at Brighton Conference
North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan attended Liberal Democrat Party Conference in Brighton this weekend, the first since the General Election which saw a record 72 Liberal Democrat MPs returned to the House of Commons.
The MP spent her time meeting national organisations with relevance to her work in North Shropshire, including the National Farmers Union and the British Dental Association – both important to the problems raised on the doorstep in the constituency.
She also spoke on maternity care and met up with representatives from Midlands Connect about the future of transport links to Shropshire.
Helen’s work included:
- Summating the motion on maternity care
- Taking part in the Warm This Winter panel
- Discussing Shropshire transport with Midlands Connect
- Localis and LGA panels on local government funding
- Meeting the Royal College of GPs
- Catching up with the Country Land and Business Association
- Speaking with LINK about access to cash in rural areas
- Panel on children in temporary accommodation
- Championing NHS dentistry with the British Dental Association
- Supporting Made In Britain, backing our exporters
Helen Morgan, MP for North Shropshire, said, “You would expect nothing less after a record-breaking General Election result, but the mood in the Liberal Democrats is fantastic.
“There are huge challenges in all 72 of our constituencies, whether it’s on the NHS, cost-of-living, or transport – but it seems like our MPs are getting stuck into the big issues already.
“It was great to catch up with so many people, and to raise some of the challenges we're facing in Shropshire, as well as to hear lots of good ideas we can take back down to Parliament.”
