Helen pledges support for disabled children’s charity
MP Helen Morgan has encouraged people to donate to a local charity working to transform disabled children’s lives in North Shropshire.
The Lib Dem MP pledged to do everything she can to support The Movement Centre, a specialist charity that provides physiotherapy called Target Training Therapy to help children gain movement control.
Helen visited the charity to learn more about how its dedicated team helps children with movement disabilities learn new skills and gain independence.
Although it is based at the Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen, The Movement Centre receives no funding from the NHS and is reliant on donations to fund its crucial Targeted Training Therapy.
North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan said, “I was really impressed by the Movement Centre and fascinated to learn more about how they transform children’s lives with Targeted Therapy.
“It’s a testament to the dedication of the Movement Centre team that they are now able to fund all physio treatment. However, this depends on the generosity of the local community so I would urge anyone who can afford to donate to please do so.
“We’re lucky to have such a great charity operating in North Shropshire and I’ll be doing everything I can to help the charity continue to make a huge difference for children with movement disabilities.”
Curtis Langley, Movement Centre Fundraising and Marketing Officer, said, “We were delighted to welcome Helen to The Movement Centre and show her round our facilities. It was great that she took time out of her busy schedule to visit and find out more about the work we do here.
“The Movement Centre is a hidden gem is Shropshire that provides fully funded physiotherapy for children from all over the UK, and we rely on the kind support of the local community. Raising awareness of our work is key to us supporting more children, and visits like this really raise the profile of our work. A huge thank you to Helen and her team for making it happen.”
