Country houses on agenda at meeting with CLA
Helen Morgan MP has met with representatives from the Country Land Association at Preston Hall, Preston Brockhurst, to discuss the challenges and opportunities that proprietors of North Shropshire’s many country houses are facing.
The wide-ranging discussion went through a number of topics, from the impact of new trading arrangements on farming to issues with the planning process.
They also discussed connectivity and poor mobile and broadband in rural areas, and the impact that rural crime is having on nearby businesses.
Helen Morgan, MP for North Shropshire, said, "Shropshire has a grand tradition of country houses, and much of our land is still maintained in connection with these properties. It is important to acknowledge their cultural and economic output as important to the fabric of the countryside.
“Like in every sector, there are real problems, and representing North Shropshire well means I will be standing up for residents.
“Thank you to Richard, Sophie, Natalie and the team at the Country Land Association for inviting me to such an interesting roundtable discussion. I will be taking away several points, particularly regarding rural crime, planning processes, and the impact of new trade deals.
