Helen praises Christmas card creativity as competition winner revealed

North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan has said choosing the winning design of her Christmas card has been one of her toughest decisions of the year.

The Liberal Democrat MP invited primary school students from across North Shropshire to design potential covers for her cards and received hundreds of entries, featuring traditional festive scenes as well as parts of North Shropshire and the Houses of Parliament.

The standard of entries was so high that Helen was left with an extremely difficult decision.

After poring over the designs, she eventually settled on a reindeer created by eight-year-old Olivia Jefferies from Market Drayton Junior School for the front cover of her cards.

With so many other strong options to choose from, Helen also decided to feature some of the runners-up on the back and the other entries are being displayed in the MP’s office in Wem (see the card design here).

Helen Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP for North Shropshire, said:

“I’ve voted more than 200 times in the House of Commons this year but choosing the winning Christmas card design has been one of the most difficult decisions of the year.

“I’ve been so impressed with the creativity on show, there are clearly lots of talented children in North Shropshire’s primary schools!

“Well done to Olivia for such a fantastic Rudolph design which now has pride of place on my cards along with some of the many other brilliant contributions.

“A huge thank you and a very merry Christmas to everyone who took part.”
