North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan has marked her hundredth day since winning at the General Election by placing the NHS as the top of her local priority list.

In July’s election, Helen pledged to make fixing the health and care crisis her top priority. Since then, she has been made the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Health and Care, championing our NHS at a national level, and continuing to press for improvements in Shropshire.

The MP has described many of the cases she has heard about from constituents as ‘harrowing and unacceptable’ including in the Commons during the Darzi Report debate earlier this week.

The case raised most recently with the Minister was about North Shropshire constituent Emma, whose eleven year-old daughter Charlotte suffers from a medical condition which means she is red flagged or a category one priority patient in the case of a medical emergency. Unfortunately, both Emma and Charlotte were recently involved in a car crash.

Charlotte urgently needed an ambulance, but after 2 hours of waiting, her father decided to take her to hospital in the back of his car instead. The family have now had to devise their own response network to keep her safe and secure and allow her to attend school in confidence.

Helen will be continuing to raise individual cases as part of her campaign for better health services, and has reiterated she is always available to hear about the problems North Shropshire constituents face accessing decent healthcare.

Helen Morgan, MP for North Shropshire, said, “It’s now been 100 days since the election, and we are all starting to form our opinions on the new Labour Government. During the campaign, my top campaign pledge was to fight for our NHS. Across North Shropshire, I have heard far too many harrowing and unacceptable experiences – cases like Charlotte’s have to be consigned to history, and the Government has to make fixing our health and care crisis its top priority. I’m always here to listen to local experiences of accessing health and care services, and will do all I can to champion the campaign to get the investment and improvement we need in Shropshire.”
